Product details

Background & context

The Mk.V was the Spitfire with which the RAF went over from defence to attack. Built from spring 1941, with the Merlin 45 and, in the C version, the universal wing that took either cannon or machine guns, it reached the squadrons in over 6,000 examples. It flew over the Channel, defended Malta, hunted in the desert with a dust filter under its nose and went to the Soviet Union, the USA and Australia. No other Spitfire version was built in greater numbers.

On the tabletop

Besides the 26 parts of the Spitfire Mk.Vc, this small beginners' set contains acrylic paints, glue and a brush, so you can start straight away. The stand shows the aircraft in flight with a shadow beneath it. The Mk.V with its universal wing fought over the Channel, on Malta and in the desert, and more were built than of any other Spitfire. In 1:72 the finished model later fits in with other aircraft of that size on your shelf.
