Background & context

Der Samurai war ursprünglich ein berittener Bogenschütze, kyuba no michi, der Weg von Bogen und Pferd. Bis zur Sengoku-Zeit hatte sich das verschoben: Viele kämpften abgesessen mit Yari oder Naginata, führten Ashigaru-Einheiten und trugen die Verantwortung für den Abschnitt, den sie hielten. Wer sich auszeichnete, konnte aufsteigen, und in den Wirren des 16. Jahrhunderts schafften das auch Männer aus bäuerlichem Stand.

On the tabletop

192 samurai on foot and 32 mounted in 10 mm form the elite of your Sengoku army. With yari and naginata you field dismounted samurai who fight between the ashigaru blocks and lead their sectors, with yumi archers, and with katana fighters for close combat. The horsemen strike on the flanks or pursue a beaten enemy. Strips of one, two, three and five men speed up assembly, and twelve casualties serve as markers.
