Background & context

1914 schickte das Zarenreich Millionen Bauern in Uniform an die Front, bewaffnet mit dem Mosin-Nagant und oft genug ohne genug Gewehre für alle. Nach Tannenberg und den Materialschlachten in Galizien zerfiel die Disziplin, 1917 kippte erst die Front und dann die Monarchie. Was danach kam, trug dieselben Uniformen: Rote und Weiße fochten bis 1922 mit den Restbeständen der alten Armee gegeneinander. Deshalb decken Mütze, Helm und Gasmaske aus einer einzigen Box gleich drei Kriege ab.

On the tabletop

Five frames build up to 35 Russian soldiers, and the heads decide the period: the Tsar's army of 1914 with Mosin-Nagant rifles, troops in gas masks, or Reds and Whites in the civil war after 1917. Officers get pistol and sabre, and grenades are included for trench fighting. That lets you refight actions from Tannenberg and Galicia to the battles of the Revolution; bases are not included.
