Product details

Background & context

In 1941 the Red Army lost millions of soldiers in the encirclement battles and still raised new formations within months, because the armaments works behind the Urals kept running. Its rifle divisions were sparsely equipped but tough: Mosin rifle, submachine gun and spade were enough for the house-to-house fighting in Stalingrad. From 1943 the riflemen rode as tank desant directly on the hulls of the T-34s and so kept up with the pace of the tank armies.

On the tabletop

With 50 Red Army soldiers in 1:72 scale you can field Eastern Front infantry in large numbers. You paint the figures quickly as a whole group in a few basic shades. From 1943 Soviet riflemen rode on the T-34s and kept pace with the tank armies, a scene that suits your diorama. They also fit house-to-house fighting in Stalingrad or a 20 mm gaming table on which the Red Army attacks with many men.
