Product details

Background & context

Even people with no interest in aircraft recognise the Spitfire, as the elliptical wing makes it unmistakable. In 1940 it defended the skies over southern England, and ever since it has stood in almost every aviation museum worth its salt. That is exactly why it is the obvious first model: you know the shape long before the first brick is even in place.

On the tabletop

The elliptical wing makes the Spitfire instantly recognisable, even as a push-fit model with a 270 mm wingspan. The box holds 34 pre-coloured bricks, a sticker sheet and a stand, so you need neither glue nor paint. The propeller turns. In this way the fighter that defended the skies over southern England in 1940 becomes a first model of your own, before you move on to a glued kit.
