Background & context

Nach dem Zusammenbruch von 1808 baute William Beresford die portugiesische Armee mit britischen Offizieren und britischem Drill neu auf. Das Ergebnis überraschte alle: Bei Bussaco und später bei Vitoria standen die braun uniformierten Linienregimenter genauso fest wie die Rotröcke, und Wellington nannte sie seine Kampfhähne. In der Spätphase des Halbinselkriegs stellte Portugal fast die Hälfte seiner Feldarmee.

On the tabletop

Five Portuguese line infantrymen in 28 mm with spare heads bring brown coats into Wellington's army for Black Powder. After William Beresford rebuilt the army, the Portuguese regiments stood as firmly as the British at Bussaco and Vitoria. So you place them in the battle line of an Anglo-Portuguese army, where they fire volleys just like their British neighbours.
