Background & context

Die G-6 war mit rund 12.000 Stück die häufigste Bf 109 überhaupt. Die zwei Beulen auf der Motorhaube verdeckten die Zuführungen der neuen 13-mm-MGs und brachten der Maschine ihren Spitznamen ein. Die seltenere G-5 hatte eine Druckkabine für Höheneinsätze. Ab 1943 bekam die G-6 mit der Erla-Haube ein Kabinendach ohne störende Rahmen. Beide Varianten flogen von Sizilien bis zur Ostfront, und erbeutete Maschinen wurden von USAAF und RAF ausführlich getestet - zwei davon liegen als Bemalungsoption bei.

On the tabletop

With 405 parts in 1:24 scale, this Bf 109 is a project for many evenings at the bench. You can show the DB 605 engine exposed or close it up, and you choose between MTT and Erla canopies, an open or closed hood, a drop tank and underwing cannon gondolas. Five sets of markings are offered, including two captured aircraft in American and British insignia. The finished large-scale model belongs in a display cabinet or on a base of its own.
