Background & context

Zwischen 1701 und 1714 stritten die Große Allianz und das Frankreich Ludwigs XIV. um das spanische Erbe. Auf dem Schlachtfeld traf sich das in langen, drei Glieder tiefen Linien, die sich auf hundert Schritt Entfernung gegenseitig Salven ins Gesicht schossen. Marlborough und Prinz Eugen gewannen bei Höchstädt, Ramillies und Oudenaarde, doch Malplaquet 1709 kostete die Sieger so viele Männer, dass der Erfolg wie eine Niederlage aussah.

On the tabletop

Twelve infantrymen from the age of Marlborough sit on this frame, with parts for command and grenadiers. During assembly you decide whether they fight for the Grand Alliance or for the armies of Louis XIV. For Black Powder or Pike & Shotte you field them as line infantry in the War of the Spanish Succession from 1701 to 1714, for Blenheim, Ramillies or Malplaquet, for example. Bases, decals and instructions are not included.
