Product details

Background & context

The 2e Division Blindée under Philippe Leclerc was formed in 1943 from Free French units that had gathered in North Africa, and was re-equipped with American materiel in Morocco and England. In August 1944 it landed in Normandy and shortly afterwards was given the task of taking Paris. On 25 August the city was free. After that it went on via Strasbourg as far as Berchtesgaden, where the division ended the war.

On the tabletop

With the decal sheet of the 2e Division Blindée, this M4A2 Sherman in 1:72 scale becomes a tank of the Leclerc Division. The finished model measures around 80 mm. The division landed in Normandy in August 1944 and liberated Paris on 25 August, then went on via Strasbourg to Berchtesgaden. As a display model or in a diorama you show a French unit on American equipment; paints and glue you supply yourself.
