Product details

Background & context

With the LVT-4 of 1944 the amphibious tractor gained a rear ramp, as the engine moved forward behind the cab. The infantry no longer had to climb over the high sides but could dismount at the back on the beach. Crews fitted extra machine guns to rails and mounts along the edge of the cargo bay. Besides the Marine Corps, the US Army also fielded whole battalions of amphibious tractors, for example in the Philippines and at Okinawa.

On the tabletop

One rifleman kneels on the crates with his rifle, a second works the heavy machine gun, and the third ducks behind the side with his weapon. Your LVT then shows a crew already opening fire on the shore during the run-in. Together with the first set in the range you can crew two vehicles of a wave in different poses. Glue the stowage into the cargo bay first and then place the figures on top.
