Background & context

Dezember 1931: Bei einem Kunstflug in niedriger Höhe streift Douglas Baders Bristol Bulldog den Boden, er verliert beide Beine. Acht Jahre später sitzt er mit Prothesen wieder im Cockpit, führt im Sommer 1940 die kanadische No. 242 Squadron auf Hurricanes und wird zum lautesten Verfechter der „Big Wing"-Taktik. Als Wing Leader in Tangmere fliegt er 1941 Spitfires über Frankreich, bis ihn im August eine Kollision oder ein Treffer zum Absprung zwingt. Im Lager wird er zum notorischen Ausbrecher, den die Deutschen schließlich nach Colditz verlegen.

These three 1:48 kits follow the career of Douglas Bader: the Bristol Bulldog in which he crashed in 1931 and lost both legs, the Hawker Hurricane he flew while leading No. 242 Squadron in 1940, and the Supermarine Spitfire of his sorties over France until his capture in August 1941. Together the models have 414 parts and are rated skill level 3. Decals and instructions with a painting guide are included, while paints, cement and brushes are needed separately. Displayed side by side, they trace the path from biplane to Second World War fighter.
