Product details

Background & context

An LCVP held 36 men or one jeep and no more, but in return it could land anywhere there was no harbour. On 6 June 1944 the boats put the first wave ashore off Normandy, and in the Pacific the same procedure ran from Guadalcanal to Okinawa. Ramp down, troops out, back off the beach in reverse and return to the transport: the whole process took minutes, and then the next wave came in.

On the tabletop

The LCVP in 1:72 scale is around 15 cm long and comes with three crew figures and decals. With the bow ramp open you can show the Normandy landing on 6 June 1944 or a Pacific landing as a diorama, together with infantry figures in the same scale. As 1:72 matches 20 mm gaming scale, the boat also fits a Second World War gaming table. Paints and glue are not included.
