    Background & context

    The Ju 88C originated as a conversion of the proven Ju 88 bomber and became one of the most versatile heavy fighter aircraft of the German Air Force in World War II. Instead of the characteristic glazed nose, the aircraft received a solid fairing with a concentrated mixed armament of machine guns and cannons. Its range of operations extended from the fighter-bomber role to bomber interception and long-range escort over the Atlantic. This versatility made the Ju 88C a feared adversary in numerous theaters of war in Europe and the Mediterranean.

    On the tabletop

    The Ju 88C is the Luftwaffe's heavy fighter, a converted bomber with a solid nose packed with machine guns and cannon. In Blood Red Skies you send the six aircraft against bombers and transports, because against single-engined fighters they remain cumbersome. Historically the C series flew as night fighter, long-range fighter over the Bay of Biscay, fighter-bomber and intruder over English airfields. The Opening Shot doctrine card, six Heavy Hitter trait cards and a decal sheet are included.
