Background & context

Ihre Besatzungen nannten sie Tante Ju, und sie war überall dort, wo Nachschub gebraucht wurde: über Norwegen, im Mai 1941 über Kreta beim größten Luftlandeunternehmen des Krieges, später im Kessel von Stalingrad, wo die Verluste dramatisch wurden. Langsam und schwach bewaffnet war sie leichte Beute, sobald gegnerische Jäger in der Nähe standen. Nach 1945 lief die Fertigung trotzdem weiter, in Frankreich als AAC.1 Toucan und in Spanien als CASA 352, teils bis in die 1970er Jahre im Dienst.

On the tabletop

With 101 parts and a 406 mm wingspan, the 1:72 Ju 52/3m is a kit you should set aside time and space for. The corrugated skin shapes the fuselage and wings and calls for care when painting. The decal sheet contains one marking, an aircraft of a Luftwaffe blind-flying school from 1938. As a display model the Ju 52 stands alongside other German aircraft, and in a diorama at the edge of an airfield with ground crew and vehicles in 1:72.
