Product details

Background & context

In 1939 the British Army was the only one in Europe to take the field fully motorised, but at Dunkirk it lost almost all of its heavy equipment. Only with El Alamein did it go back on the offensive. Its section of ten men was built around the Bren light machine gun, while the rest of the section gave cover and brought up ammunition. Alongside them came divisions from Canada, India, Australia and New Zealand, which fought under British command in the same uniforms.

On the tabletop

Under its French name Infanterie Britannique, Heller supplies 50 British infantrymen in 1:72 scale. The British section of ten men was built around the Bren light machine gun, and you can organise your groups on a 20 mm gaming table to the same pattern. The figures suit scenes in North Africa, Italy or North-West Europe. Divisions from Canada, Australia or New Zealand, which fought in the same uniforms, can also be portrayed with them.
