Background & context

Die Nelson war ein Kind des Washingtoner Flottenvertrags: 35.000 Tonnen, keine mehr. Um die neun 16-Zoll-Geschütze und die schwere Panzerung unterzubringen, packten die Konstrukteure alle drei Türme vor die Brücke und kürzten das Heck. Das Ergebnis fuhr nur 23 Knoten, hatte aber eine Breitseite, die jedes andere britische Schiff bis 1940 übertraf. Im Krieg deckte sie Malta-Konvois, beschoss 1943 die Küste vor Sizilien und Salerno, und an ihrem Kartentisch unterschrieb Italien im September 1943 den Waffenstillstand. 1944 lag sie mit ihren Geschützen vor der Normandie.

With all three triple turrets placed ahead of the bridge, HMS Nelson stands apart from every other battleship at first glance. This 1:600 kit has 132 parts, and the decals show the ship with the Home Fleet in 1941 or after her refit in 1945. So you decide whether your model belongs to the early war years or to the end of the war, when Nelson was present at the Japanese surrender in Singapore. At skill level 2 the build stays manageable despite a length of 36 cm.
