Product details

Background & context

The Typhoon started out as a failure. Intended as the successor to the Hurricane, it was of little use at altitude, and in the first months several aircraft lost their tails in a dive. Low over the ground, by contrast, it was in its element: from September 1943 RP-3 rockets hung under the wings, and in the summer of 1944 the Tiffies circled over Normandy in holding patterns until ground observers directed them by radio onto German columns.

On the tabletop

The Typhoon Mk.IB was planned as a fighter and found its role in low-level attack with bombs and rockets. This 1:72 kit has 74 parts and the easiest skill level. The decal sheet offers JB II of Wing Commander Baldwin from Antwerp in October 1944 and an aircraft flown by a Canadian pilot that flew from Goch in the last spring of the war. Next to your 20 mm vehicles for North-West Europe from 1944 it stands as a fighter-bomber on an advanced airstrip.
