Product details

Background & context

The Hurricane was already in service while the Spitfire was still a long time coming. Its framework of steel tube with fabric covering was regarded as old-fashioned in 1940, but it was practical: bullets passed straight through the fabric, and a field workshop often had the aircraft back in the air overnight. The kit's two decal options show it before the war, with No.73 Squadron at Digby and No.56 Squadron at North Weald.

On the tabletop

The two markings show the Hurricane Mk.I before the outbreak of war, with No. 73 Squadron at Digby and No. 56 Squadron at North Weald. With 51 parts and skill level 1, the 1:72 kit is a good start if you have never built an aircraft before. The Hurricane was the first monoplane fighter of the RAF with multiple machine guns and equipped many fighter squadrons in 1940. In 20 mm it fits figures and vehicles on a British airfield.
