Background & context

Every battalion of the Foot Guards carries two colours: the King's Colour and the Regimental Colour, which bears the regiment's battle honours. They are carried by the Ensign, the most junior officer, and guarded by experienced non-commissioned officers. The colours last went into battle in the 19th century, and after that they were left with the ceremonial role. At Trooping the Colour on Horse Guards Parade, one of these colours is still carried along the ranks of the assembled troops today so that every soldier recognises it.

On the tabletop

Every battalion of the Foot Guards carries two colours, borne by young officers and guarded by experienced NCOs. Here you get this colour party and its escort as 42 figures in 1:76 in full ceremonial dress. In the past soldiers rallied to the colours in battle, while today they are the centrepiece of parades such as Trooping the Colour. In a diorama you can place the group in front of a company drawn up on parade or at the head of a procession.
