Product details

Background & context

The Household Division provides not only the guards at Buckingham Palace but their music as well: each of the five Foot Guards regiments maintains a band of its own. They play at the Changing of the Guard, on state visits and at Trooping the Colour, in scarlet tunics and bearskin caps. The musicians are trained soldiers and historically served as stretcher-bearers in wartime. The Drum Major with his mace gives the commands that would otherwise be lost in the noise of the march.

On the tabletop

The drum major with his staff leads the way, followed by brass, drummers and cymbals: the 44 figures in 1:76 make up a complete military band of the Household Division. The bands of the Foot Guards play at the Changing of the Guard, state visits and Trooping the Colour in scarlet tunics and bearskins. In a diorama you can march the band ahead of troops on parade, and on an OO gauge model railway it can process through the streets of a town.
