Product details

Background & context

Panzergrenadiers arose from the experience that a tank attack without infantry keeping pace gets stuck at the edge of the next village. From 1942 the arm officially bore this name; most rode on lorries, and only one battalion per panzer division received the armoured personnel carrier. On that the squad was fast, but open-topped and barely protected against shell splinters. Their task remained the same: to clear out anti-tank nests before these get a shot off.

On the tabletop

Panzergrenadiers rode into battle with the tanks, mostly on lorries and less often in armoured half-tracks, and bore that name from 1942. You therefore place these 48 figures in 1:72 scale next to vehicles in the same scale. In a diorama your men dismount and secure the ground. On a 20 mm gaming table they accompany the tanks and silence enemy anti-tank positions before those can fire.
