Background & context

Until 1942 the German infantry squad still looked like the textbook: M35 steel helmet, jackboots, pack - and an MG34 around which everyone else was grouped. Only the Eastern Front forced improvisation and cheaper production, and lace-up boots with puttees replaced the tall boots. Anyone bringing Poland, France or the start of Barbarossa to the gaming table therefore needs figures in the early style.

On the tabletop

Five German infantrymen in the early style of 1939 to 1942, with a choice of heads and arms, come on this frame; weapons and bases are not included. Take the weapons from the German weapon frame, for example. In Bolt Action they add single riflemen, platoon commanders or spotters to armies for Poland, France or the opening of Operation Barbarossa. The M35 helmet, high boots and backpack are typical of this period.
