Product details

Background & context

In 1940 France fielded more divisions and more tanks than its opponent, but spread them along a rigid front and held the reserves back. When the German formations pushed through the Ardennes at Sedan, the apparatus was too slow to react. The infantry fought on the Meuse, on the Somme and around Lille, often to the point of exhaustion, yet after six weeks the campaign was decided. Their appearance, with greatcoat, Adrian helmet and musette, was still that of the First World War.

On the tabletop

The 50 French infantrymen in 1:72 scale wear greatcoat, Adrian helmet and musette bag, kit that in 1940 still recalled the First World War. With them you portray the defenders on the Meuse, on the Somme or around Lille in the 1940 campaign. On a 20 mm gaming table they defend villages and bridges against German forces. In a diorama they fit French tanks of the 1940 campaign.
