    Background & context

When the Eindecker reached the front in the summer of 1915, it brought something with it that turned air fighting upside down: a gear that let the machine gun fire in time with the propeller. The pilot thus aimed with the whole aircraft instead of shooting upwards at an angle. The Allies called the months that followed the Fokker Scourge. The E.II was the intermediate step in the series: a more powerful rotary engine, slightly shorter wings, still controlled by wing warping.

    On the tabletop

The Fokker E.II was among the first fighters whose machine gun could fire through the arc of the propeller. The 1:72 kit has 35 parts and depicts the aircraft of Kurt von Crailsheim, flown with Feldflieger-Abteilung 53 at Monthois in France in October 1915. As a display model it stands at the start of your collection on the history of air warfare. In a diorama it suits a field airstrip on the Western Front of the First World War.
