Background & context

Ägypten lernte seine Kriegführung ausgerechnet von den Hyksos, die es zuvor vertrieben hatte: Kompositbogen und Streitwagen kamen mit den Fremdherrschern ins Land und blieben. Das Heer des Neuen Reichs war stehend organisiert, die Divisionen trugen Götternamen - Amun, Re, Ptah, Seth. Unter Ramses II. marschierte es bis nach Syrien und traf 1274 v. Chr. bei Kadesch auf die Hethiter. Im Handgemenge entschied das Chepesch, das sichelförmige Hiebschwert.

On the tabletop

Twelve archers and twelve spear and sword fighters give you the foot troops of an Egyptian New Kingdom army. The archers strike the enemy at range, while the spearmen stand in front of them and protect them in close combat. Musicians, standard bearers and command can be built from the parts. With several boxes you can field a division for Ramesses II's campaign into Syria and the battle of Kadesh, with chariots completing the army.
