Product details

Background & context

On 7 December 1941 there were P-40Bs on Hawaii, and two pilots did actually get into the air from Haleiwa: George Welch and Kenneth Taylor scored the few defensive successes of that morning. The B was the early version with pilot armour and self-sealing tanks, but still without the more powerful engines of later series. So it was no high-altitude fighter but a workhorse that could take a lot of fire and was there in large numbers where it was needed.

On the tabletop

With 47 parts and the easiest skill level, this P-40B is a kit for your first steps into aircraft modelling. The decal sheet carries one marking of the US Army Air Force. The B was the early version of the fighter, which was also based on Hawaii in December 1941. In 1:72 the finished model matches figures and vehicles in 20 mm scale, for example as a parked aircraft beside a runway.
