Background & context

Der Krimkrieg von 1853 bis 1856 brachte das Zarenreich gegen Briten, Franzosen, Osmanen und Sarden ins Feld. Russische Linienregimenter rückten bei Alma und Inkerman in tiefen Kolonnen an und suchten die Entscheidung mit dem Bajonett - eine Taktik aus napoleonischer Zeit, die gegen die neuen gezogenen Gewehre der Alliierten furchtbare Verluste kostete. Nicht die Ausrüstung hielt diese Bataillone im Feld, sondern Zahl und Standhaftigkeit.

On the tabletop

Six Russian infantrymen of the Crimean War and a choice of spare heads sit on this 28 mm frame. Use them to complete a battalion you have started or to add variety to a unit. In Black Powder the Russians advance in deep columns and seek the bayonet charge, as at the Alma and Inkerman, while the Allies fire from range with rifled muskets. The war lasted from 1853 to 1856.
