    Product details

    Background & context

The Churchill was designed in haste in 1940 because trench fighting as in 1918 was expected, hence the long track form made for climbing and the leisurely pace. What began as a flawed design became, through reliability and armour, the workhorse of the British Tank Brigades. The Mk.VII of 1944 carried 152 mm of frontal armour and the 75 mm gun; as the Crocodile with flamethrower trailer it cleared bunkers in Normandy and on the Rhine. No other British tank was built for so long up to the end of the war.

    On the tabletop

As an infantry tank the Churchill was meant to accompany the foot soldiers, so it had thick armour and good cross-country ability but little speed. The Mk.VII with its 75 mm gun and reinforced front first saw action in Normandy in 1944. In 1:76 the 104 parts make a model 94 mm long from moulds made in 1961, with one set of markings. On the gaming table it advances with your British infantry in 1:76, and in a diorama you can show it in the Normandy hedgerow country.
