Product details

Background & context

The Landing Vehicle Tracked went back to a civilian swamp vehicle from Florida and was developed by the US Marine Corps into a landing carrier: the cleated tracks bite in the water like paddle wheels and on the beach like normal tracks. The British adopted the type under the name Buffalo and used it in 1944 and 1945 mainly in Europe, for instance on the Scheldt and at the Rhine crossing. The Willys MB beside it was its small-scale counterpart: light, able to get through anywhere and found in almost every unit.

On the tabletop

The Buffalo was an amphibious tracked vehicle that carried troops straight from the water onto land, and a Willys MB jeep comes in the box with it. Both are built in 1:76 from 107 parts and carry one set of markings. In a diorama you can create a landing point on a riverbank, like those the British used on the Scheldt and the Rhine in 1944 and 1945. On the gaming table the vehicles add to your 1:76 collection for scenarios on rivers and canals.
