Product details

Background & context

Dark grey was already the base colour of German tanks in the 1930s, at first with brown camouflage patches. From 1940 most Wehrmacht vehicles carried a plain grey finish, in which they fought in France, in the Balkans and in 1941 in the Soviet Union. In February 1943 dark yellow replaced grey as the base colour, but many older vehicles kept running in grey. Dust and dirt showed up clearly on the dark surface.

On the tabletop

Shake the bottle thoroughly and apply the wash with a medium round brush around hatches, weld seams and bolt heads on the grey finish. After about 15 minutes, lift the excess with a clean brush and a little wash thinner so the colour stays only in the recesses. Place precise lines on single details with a fine size 00 brush. The solvent is flammable, so work in a well ventilated room and away from open flames.
