Product details

Background & context

After the retreat from Dunkirk, Churchill wanted to carry the war back to the occupied coast, and in the summer of 1940 the Commandos were formed to do it: volunteers, trained hard in the Scottish Highlands and specialising in raids, sabotage and reconnaissance. Vaagsö, St. Nazaire and Dieppe made them famous, and on D-Day they secured the flanks and locks of the landing beaches. The British commando force wears its green beret to this day.

On the tabletop

The 40 British Commandos in 1:72 scale come in unpainted plastic. The force was raised in 1940 for raids on the occupied coast, sabotage and reconnaissance. That gives you your scenes: a landing by night, a raid on harbour installations as at St Nazaire, or securing a flank on D-Day. As 1:72 matches 20 mm scale, you can also use the figures on the gaming table as small teams with a clear task.
