Product details

Background & context

From Sollum to Tunis: the British 8th Army fought the desert war against the German-Italian panzer army back and forth for two years, until Montgomery forced the turning point at El Alamein in November 1942. Its backbone was infantry from across the Empire, Britons, Australians, New Zealanders, Indians and South Africans, who endured sandstorms, heat and lack of water in shorts and tropical uniform. After the victory in Africa the army landed in Sicily and fought its way through Italy until the end of the war.

On the tabletop

With 49 figures in 1:72 scale you can field British infantry of the Eighth Army in shorts and tropical uniform. They suit dioramas of the desert war in North Africa up to the battle of El Alamein in November 1942, as well as the later fighting in Sicily and Italy. The army brought together soldiers from across the Empire. As 1:72 matches 20 mm scale, you can also use the figures as infantry on a Second World War gaming table.
