Background & context

Im Herbst 1939 hatte die RAF einen Bomber zu viel und einen Nachtjäger zu wenig. Die Lösung war pragmatisch: ein Blechkasten mit vier Browning-MGs unter dem Bombenschacht der Blenheim, gefertigt in den Eisenbahnwerkstätten von Ashford. So entstand die Mk.IF, die 1940 als erste Maschine mit dem Bordradar AI Mk.III flog und im Juli 1940 den ersten radargeführten Nachtabschuss der Geschichte erzielte. Zu langsam für den Tagkampf, aber als fliegendes Versuchslabor der Nachtjagd unersetzlich.

On the tabletop

With a 370 mm wingspan, this 1:48 Blenheim Mk.IF becomes a large model for the display cabinet or a diorama. The 216-part kit includes the gun pack with four forward-firing machine guns that turned the light bomber into a long-range and night fighter. The decal sheet offers three paint schemes. In a diorama you can place the aircraft on an airfield of 1939 and 1940, when the RAF was still waiting for purpose-built night fighters.
