Product details

Background & context

In 1942 the 6-pounder replaced the 2-pounder anti-tank gun, by then far too weak, and in North Africa it met German tanks that until then had been almost impossible to deal with. It stayed light enough for the crew to manhandle it over short distances, and later found its way into vehicles and aircraft too. The Bren Gun Carrier was the workhorse alongside it: an open tracked vehicle that hauled ammunition, fetched the wounded, carried machine guns and, when needed, towed the anti-tank gun as well. More than a hundred thousand of this family of vehicles were built.

On the tabletop

Carrier, 6-pounder anti-tank gun and four crew make a British anti-tank detachment in 1:76 with its own tow vehicle. The gun first saw action in North Africa in 1942 and went on to serve in the later campaigns of the war. In a diorama you unhitch it, aim it from behind a wall and park the carrier in cover to the rear. On the gaming table the team gives your British force a mobile anti-tank weapon.
