    Background & context

    On the tabletop

You can recognise the B-17G by the chin turret under the nose, which closed the gap that German fighters had exploited in head-on attacks. The 1:72 kit has 264 parts and spans 437 mm when finished. The decals give you either a USAAF B-17G in Italy in 1944 or an RAF Fortress Mk.III, a type the RAF flew in 100 Group carrying jamming equipment. As a large display model it stands alongside other Second World War bombers and fighters in 1:72.
