Product details

Background & context

Losing your hat was nothing unusual in the battles of the musket era. Battle reports and paintings regularly show officers leading bareheaded after a ball had carried off their bicorne, and soldiers who had lost their shako in hand to hand fighting. Taking the hat off was also a salute, for instance as a general rode past. On the tabletop, figures like these tell a small story inside an otherwise uniform line.

On the tabletop

An officer who has lost his hat in the charge, a standard bearer in the thick of the fight or a wounded man on a command base: a bare head makes single figures stand out from the ranks. Cut off the existing head and glue the resin one in its place. The heads suit the Epic Battles ranges for Black Powder, meaning the Napoleonic and American Civil War lines, as well as the Pike & Shotte range.
