Background & context

Im Unabhängigkeitskrieg zogen beide Seiten leichte Geschütze direkt mit den Bataillonen mit - 3- und 6-Pfünder waren klein genug, um über Feldwege, durch Wald und über Flussübergänge bewegt zu werden. Schwere Belagerungsartillerie blieb dagegen an die wenigen befestigten Plätze gebunden. Ein solches Feldgeschütz stand selten allein: Fahrer, Munitionskästen und eine Handvoll Kanoniere gehörten dazu, und wer die Bedienung ausschaltete, hatte auch das Rohr erledigt.

On the tabletop

This frame holds a field gun of the War of Independence that you build with either a 3-pounder or a 6-pounder barrel. The crew includes the figure of Molly Pitcher, and a mounted commander and a casualty figure are also included. Light guns of this size marched with the battalions, so in Black Powder you place the cannon close to your infantry. Use the rider as a commander and the casualty for a scene beside the gun.
