    Background & context

When Caesar landed on the coast of Kent in 55 BC, he faced tribes that still used the chariot as a weapon of war; on the Continent it had long since gone out of fashion. Two men, a driver and a warrior, raced up to the line, threw spears, jumped down and fought on foot until the chariot picked them up again. Almost a century later Boudicca's revolt of AD 60/61 brought the young province to the brink of collapse, until the legions won in open battle.

    On the tabletop

The 43 parts build twenty-five warriors on foot in 1:76, including a chieftain and a standard bearer, plus two light chariots, each with two horses and two men. Each chariot carried a driver and a fighter who threw spears or jumped down to fight on foot. This is how the tribes of Britain met Caesar's landing and, later, the legions during Boudicca's revolt. On the gaming table or in a diorama you can set them against Romans of the same scale.
