Background & context

The M577A1 Command Post Vehicle is based on the M113 family and served as a mobile tactical command post. The variant can be recognized by its higher superstructure and roof-mounted auxiliary power unit. It was used in the Vietnam War and later found use in other conflicts and roles. In addition to its command role, the M577 family could also be adapted as an ambulance, fire control vehicle, or specialized vehicle.

On the tabletop

The M577A1 is the command post version of the M113, recognisable by its raised superstructure and the power unit on the roof. In Vietnam War games it serves you as a battalion command post at the heart of a firebase, or as an objective the enemy wants to knock out. As an ambulance or fire control post it also belongs behind your own line. The kit includes a driver and details for the engine and interior, and the hatches can be built open or closed.
