Background & context

The M106A1 was a mortar carrier variant of the M113 family, carrying an M30 mortar in the rear fighting compartment. The mortar could be fired from within the vehicle or dismounted, providing mobile indirect fire support. Like other M113 variants, the M106A1 belongs to the context of US and allied forces in the Cold War and Vietnam War. Its design combined the protection and mobility of the M113 with the firepower of a heavy mortar.

On the tabletop

The M106A1 is an American mortar carrier for games set in the Vietnam War or the Cold War. Through the opened roof hatch over the rear compartment the 107 mm M30 mortar fires in an arc at targets behind cover without the crew having to dismount. A dismounted M30 with its own crew is also included, so you can set up a second mortar position next to the vehicle or in a firebase. A driver, the mortar crew and optional parts for hatches and interior complete the kit.
