Background & context

The M113 was introduced in the early 1960s as a fully tracked armored personnel carrier and first deployed to Vietnam in 1962. In Vietnam, it became one of the most widely used armored vehicles of the US Army and was also used by allied forces. The ACAV versions received additional armament and protection for operations with armored cavalry units. Australian modifications reflect the use by ANZAC forces in the Vietnam War.

On the tabletop

The M113A1 is the armoured personnel carrier for Vietnam War games, used by the US Army, the South Vietnamese army and Australian units. In its standard form it carries infantry to their objective under armour. The ACAV conversion turns it into a fighting vehicle that pushes through dense jungle towards enemy positions. The third build option shows the Australian version. Driver, commander and gunner are included, along with engine and troop compartment details.
