Background & context

Nach Korea wollte die US Army weg vom klassischen Jeep mit Leiterrahmen. Heraus kam der M151, kurz MUTT, mit selbsttragender Karosserie und Einzelradaufhängung an allen vier Rädern - leicht, geländegängig und per Fallschirm absetzbar. Die Ausführung A1 erschien 1964 mit überarbeiteter Hinterachsaufhängung für höhere Zuladung und zusätzlichen Blinkern an den Kotflügeln. In Vietnam war das Fahrzeug allgegenwärtig, im Dienst blieb es bis in die 1980er Jahre.

On the tabletop

The M151A1 is the light utility vehicle of US forces in the Vietnam War and the successor to the classic Jeep. In a game it handles reconnaissance, dispatch runs and carrying officers, but it gives its occupants no protection against fire. With radio and canvas top you build a liaison vehicle, and in the Fast Attack Vehicle configuration a car for quick thrusts. Driver, passenger and gunner are included, along with deep-wading equipment.
