    Background & context

    The BTR-60 was the first Soviet eight-wheeled armored personnel carrier in a long family of vehicles and was developed in the late 1950s as a successor to the BTR-152. The vehicle was first publicly shown in 1961 and incorporated lessons learned from the earlier BTR-152 and BTR-40. The PA and PB variants represent the further development of the Soviet wheeled APC concept during the Cold War. The PB version received the closed superstructure with a turret and improved machine gun armament.

    On the tabletop

    The BTR-60 is the eight-wheeled armoured personnel carrier of Soviet motor rifle troops for Cold War games. As the PA with its closed armoured roof it carries its squad under protection up to the front and drops it off there. The PB adds a small turret with a heavy and a light machine gun, which supports the dismounted infantry. You decide during assembly which version to build, and most hatches can be shown open or closed. A crew figure with a PKB machine gun is included.
