    Hintergrund & Einordnung

    British S-class submarines were designed for North Sea and Mediterranean operations and could dive quickly. Fairmile boats were built in several variants and took on tasks from anti-submarine warfare to coastal escort. Fairmile B and D types, in particular, were used in large numbers and flexibly. The set thus depicts the smaller but powerful coastal and support vessels of the Royal Navy.

    Royal Navy submarines and MTB sections are designed for fast attacks, coastal operations, and covert threats on the tabletop. They provide British fleets with tools against larger ships and scenario objectives without acting as primary combat vessels themselves. The broad phase and scenario assignment is plausible because British small and subsurface units were deployed throughout the entire naval war.
