    Hintergrund & Einordnung

    The Libyans were an important nomadic people of North Africa who repeatedly clashed with Egypt during the Late Bronze Age and Early Iron Age. As Libu warriors, they fought in independent Libyan tribal armies, while the elite warriors known as Meshwesh, with their optional round shields, were among the most feared close-quarters combatants of their time. Libyans also served as mercenaries and allies in Egyptian armies and in alliance with the Sea Peoples. In the Early Iron Age, Libyan princes eventually gained such power that they themselves ascended the pharaonic throne.

    Einsatz im Spiel

    Libyan Close Fighters are used in Hail Caesar as mobile close combat or irregular infantry for Libyan and Egyptian Bronze Age forces. In the game, the unit occupies terrain, supports the main line, and attacks vulnerable targets, without taking on the role of a rigid spear or hoplite formation. They work best in conjunction with missile troops, chariots, or heavier troops, so that their mobility and close combat pressure are not wasted in isolation.
