    Hintergrund & Einordnung

    The Alpini are one of the world's most traditional mountain troops and have been deployed on Italy's most rugged battlefields since their formation in the 19th century - from the Alps of World War I to the campaigns in North Africa and on the Eastern Front in World War II. As support weapons, the Alpini relied on robust, proven systems: the Solothurn anti-tank rifle offered an effective answer to light vehicles, while the Brixia light mortar Model 35 was among the most sophisticated weapons in its class. Their fighting spirit and adaptability to extreme terrain made the Alpini a formidable infantry unit within the Regio Esercito.

    Einsatz im Spiel

    Weapon teams are the tactical backbone of an Alpini army, covering gaps that regular infantry platoons alone cannot. The anti-tank team with the Solothurn rifle threatens light vehicles and half-tracks, while the sniper eliminates enemy leaders and deprives the enemy of cover advantages. The light mortar is particularly well-suited for indirect fire support and smoke screens - ideal for positioning Alpini platoons in difficult terrain. The combination of all three teams gives the player the flexibility to react to almost any threat situation.
