Hintergrund & Einordnung

The ancient Iberians were among the most feared warriors of the Mediterranean region and offered fierce resistance to Roman expansion on the Iberian Peninsula. As experienced mercenaries, they also served Carthage and fought against Rome in the Punic Wars. Their characteristic weapons-the curved falcata saber, javelins, and the pilum-made them a versatile and formidable adversary. The rich ornamentation of belts, buckles, sword hilts, and helmets reflects the cultural independence and pride of the Iberian warriors.

Einsatz im Spiel

Ancient Iberian Unarmoured Warriors are used in Hail Caesar and Clash of Spears as mobile close combat or auxiliary infantry for Iberian and Western Mediterranean forces. In the game, the unit occupies terrain, supports the main line, and attacks vulnerable targets, without taking on the role of a rigid spear or hoplite formation. They work best in conjunction with ranged fighters, chariots, or heavier troops, so that mobility and close combat pressure are not wasted in isolation.
