Hintergrund & Einordnung

German officers were known for their initiative and decisive actions on the battlefield - the German doctrine of "mission tactics" (Auftragstaktik) gave junior officers extensive autonomy to make decisions on the spot rather than waiting for orders from higher commands. The great battles of the Desert Campaign in North Africa - Tobruk, Gazala, Bir Hakeim, El Alamein - put their abilities to a severe test. Under Rommel's command, they fought against the British 8th Army for supremacy in Libya and Egypt, having to contend with scarce resources, long supply lines, and brutal desert heat. These four officers represent typical platoon leader roles in DAK units and are ideal for Bolt Action armies looking to field a full Reinforced Platoon with individual commanders for each platoon type.
